Watercolors on Enamel

In today's enameling class at the St. Lucie County Rock & Gem Club, I practiced with watercolors.  It may not be a Van Gogh, but I am happy with the results.

The enameling watercolors fire true to color and stayed exactly where I put them.  In other words, it fires exactly how you paint it - only with a nice sheen afterwards!

This is definitely a enameling technique I will be using in the future!

This session's classes are ending next week, but if you are interested in learning enameling or any of the other great classes given at the club, the new session begins the last week of March.  Check out the class schedule at  St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club.

8th BEAD SOUP BLOG PARTY

Tomorrow is the date to find out my bead soup partner!  So excited!!!  We both pick out a stash of beads and components to send to each other and then we make jewelry from the stash we receive.

Not only do I get to make a new friend, I get to play with more BEADS!!!!  Very interested to see if what I make matches up to her original vision!

I will post what I receive from my buddy as soon as it arrives, BUT what I make is a SECRET until the unveiling on May 3rd.  I am VERY GOOD at keeping secrets!

Jewelry Makers of the Treasure Coast

Had a wonderful lunch today with other members of the Jewelry Makers of the Treasure Coast Meetup Group at the Elliott Museum on Hutchinson Island.  Our meeting was one of several to generate continued interest in the group and to map out our objectives for the group.

Carole Grant will be providing a questionnaire for members to review and fill out, so we can see who wants to actively participate in this Meetup Group.  If you are interested in joining this group, go to Jewelry Makers on the Treasure Coast.

Attending today's meeting were Kathleen Carden, Carole Grant, Deborah Apodaca, Marcia Gladstone, Ann Royer and Janie Fuller.

Also, please take a tour of the Elliott Museum when you get a chance!  They also have an activity calendar that includes jewelry, photography and painting classes.  Check them out at Elliott Museum.

Catch up time!

Today has been a very busy day catching up!  Now it is blog time.

Since my last posting I have taken another copper class at the Gem and Mineral Society of the Palm Beaches.  Arlene Lazarro is an excellent teacher.  We made a copper fold bracelet with a cold connection bezel and then completed a cold form pendant.  Can't wait to make more copper cuffs!  LOVE THEM!!!

Here is my completed cuff and pendant!

Check out their other classes at

Then I hosted an event at our local wine bar, Vine & Barley, to unveil my wine bottle serving trays!  Even though Monday is one of their slow nights, and President's Day to boot, I was very happy with my first event.  The best part is that Danette wants me to do another event in the future.  Mark your calendars!!!  Mother's Day is coming up............

Here are a few photos from that event.  My husband, Bob, and two daughters, Kimber and Toby, helped me tremendously with the event.

Thanks to everyone who came by to support me and even more thanks to those who bought a wine bottle serving tray!

Vine & Barley is so kind to give me a permanent display in their store in Port St. Lucie, Florida!  Here is a photo of my display.  Very happy how it turned out!

Please stop in and tell her I sent you.

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, I have the wine bottle serving trays on my webpage!  There is a wide variety of trays available for purchase!  They make wonderful hostess or house warming gifts!  STOCK UP!  I have a few more service items in the works and hope to be sharing those soon.

I have also been pinning myself to death today!  Please check me out on Pinterest and make sure to pin and share!  http://www.pinterest.com/apodacadesigns/

Winter Blossom...

One of the things that I need to get in the habit of doing is naming my pieces.  Today I cut and grinded a Dendritic Jasper cabachon and the finished pattern reminds me of a bouquet of flowers and so ... a "Winter Blossom" is born.
