It Arrived in an Envelope

Have you ever burst with excitement when you see a particular package arrive in the mail!  Well, that is how it felt to receive this particular envelope!

But, it wasn't just an envelope, it was a bright neon pink honeycomb mailer envelope!

For those who have ever received one, you know who today's inspiration is.  But, first, let's talk about this mailer.  It is BRIGHT NEON PINK and has approval from her 2 dogs, Sam & Carl, who are proudly displayed on stickers on the front of the mailer.

My inspiration for today's blog post is Kinga Nichols!

Kinga Nichols

Her biography from her blog reads:

Kinga Nichols was born in 1980, in Hungary. At 19, she packed up her life in a backpack and moved to the US where she has been residing since, albeit not at the same place. She currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband Paul Nichols and furbaby Samantha Regina Nichols. Samantha Regina is not only her muse but her model as well. Many of Kinga's best known pieces were popularized by the canine model.

One way or another Kinga has been always making things, which started turning into a career when she was painting murals at the time she lived in New York. The murals were fun, but  she did not feel like painting was her calling. Eventually she picked up a bead and Button magazine in 2007, found a bead embroidery project, and slowly but surely the obsession took over.

After that first project, she started creating her own designs and quickly found her own distinctive voice that allowed her to translate her imaginings into beadwork. Kinga is always brainstorming, and her imagination provides an endless supply of fanciful ideas that she translates into bead embroidery.

Her work first got noticed in the first Battle of the Beadsmith, quickly followed by her being a BeadDreams finalist in 2013 and getting 3rd place in the same competition in the Swarovski category in 2014, and a book feature in Marcia Decoster Presents, 2014. In 2015 she won first place in the crystal category in BeadDreams.
In 2013 she started teaching and she hopes to continue this as her chosen profession for a long time to come, not only passing on beady knowledge, but perhaps her unique way of looking at the world as a magical place filled with endless possibilities.

Her jewelry designs are uniquely Kinga.  Centered around focal cabochons that grab your attention.  You will always know a Kinga piece without having to ask the designer's name.  As with her packaging, it is her trademark.  You know immediately upon opening your mailbox who the package is from.

When you try to calmly open your package and not rip it open with excitement, you find a postcard featuring a photo of her dog and a hand-written note of thanks.

Another special touch in her packaging.  In case you haven't figured it out, I LOVE HER PACKAGING!  I am in the thought stages of revamping my webpage and designing a LOGO that will identify me, as Kinga's neon pink mailer and dogs, identify her.  To have someone see my LOGO and packaging and open it with the excitement that I felt when receiving her package would be the greatest blessing and acknowledgment of someone loving my art!  What a true inspiration!!!!

LOL, and that is even before opening the envelope to see what it holds.  Which is another professionally packaged box with a photo attached to the outside of the box with photo corners.  This box contains KINGA'S WINTER INSPIRATION BOX 2017!

And, what, you ask, is in the box?  Well, I think I will keep that a secret for a bit until a design for the contents inspired by the photo on the box comes to mind.  Watch for a future post opening the box and what I have made from her inspiration.  Hopefully, it will hold up to Kinga's expectations.

I hope you enjoyed my blog posting and continue to meet me here.  Please share with your family and friends.  Hopefully, you too, will be inspired!
